Halff’s Nelson Named SABJ 40 Under 40 Honoree
SAN ANTONIO — Halff Senior Strategist of Infrastructure Maria Nelson has been recognized as a San Antonio Business Journal Class of 2025 40 Under 40 honoree for her professional success and personal contributions to the San Antonio region.
More than 200 nominees were evaluated based on achievements, leadership and impact in their respective fields. The award not only recognizes professional achievements but highlights contributions to the community through volunteerism and nonprofit work. Based on these criteria, Nelson was selected as one of the best young professionals under 40 making a significant impact in their community. Furthermore, she is one of only six representing the architecture, engineering, construction and real estate sectors.
Since joining Halff in 2022, Nelson has been instrumental in advancing the success of key initiatives, and collaborated cross-functionally to enhance practice growth and market presence. Recently elevated to senior strategist, she continues driving success for the firm’s Infrastructure solutions. Last year, the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) recognized her as the 2024 SMPS San Antonio Board Member of the Year.
Nelson is a member of Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Class 43 and served on the steering committee for LSA 45 and 48. She is a 2015 graduate of the Alexander Briseño Leadership Development Program and is also active in the Urban Land Institute and SMPS San Antonio.
Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Texas Tech University, and a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Nelson and the other honorees will be celebrated at an award ceremony in March.
